Islamic Book Author
Farooq Mirza, born in 1950 in Lahore, Pakistan, is an Islamic book author who completed his high school education at Azam Garrison High School and pursued higher studies at Forman Christian College. He later attended King Edward Medical College for his medical degree. In 1976, he moved to the United States, where he completed his Residency in Pediatrics and has since been practicing pediatric emergency medicine in Texas. His interest in religion was sparked at an early age, growing up in a devout Sunni Muslim household.
The Islamic book author moved to America introduced himself to a society deeply influenced by Judeo-Christian values, which broadened his spiritual perspective. This led to his acquaintance with the Bible and a renewed engagement with the Quran, which he had not explored in depth until his arrival in the U.S. An American convert to Islam introduced him to “The Message of the Quran” by Muhammad Asad, a former Jew who embraced Islam. The profound insights and extensive scope of this work deepened his conviction that the Quran’s wisdom was beyond what could be attributed to Muhammad alone.
The Quran’s structure is distinct; it doesn’t follow a linear narrative or thematic organization, often weaving moral guidance with legislative directives. This reflects the Quranic view that human life, encompassing both spiritual and societal dimensions, should be approached holistically. For readers in the West, the Quran’s traditional format can be challenging due to its non-linear approach and subject transitions.
Recognizing this, Farooq Mirza dedicated numerous hours to reorganizing “The Message of the Quran” by Muhammad Asad, categorizing it by topics to facilitate a clearer understanding for those less familiar with its style. Today, he is happy to be able to share the knowledge with Muslims and non-Muslims who are ready to embrace Islam.
